Heath Burton went 2-3, helping the Hornell (19-7) to a 5-2 victory over the Olean (15-10) on Monday at St. Bonaventure.
He tripled in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning.The Hornell relied on Nicholas Boyd to eat up innings en route to the win. Boyd allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks while striking out three over seven innings of work.
It was a good day at the plate for the Olean's Joe Pantano. Pantano went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and tripled in the eighth inning.
Ruben Medina ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked five, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
