A walk-off single from Dan Lyons brought home the winning run for the Long Island Ducks (38-24) in a 2-1 victory over the Sugar Land Skeeters (26-37) at Bethpage Ballpark on Sunday.
Lyons got on base three times in the game for the Long Island Ducks. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the third and ninth innings.
The Sugar Land Skeeters had no answer for Jared Lansford, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Lansford held the Sugar Land Skeeters hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Connor Graham improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Long Island Ducks. Graham struck out one, walked none and gave up two hits.
Kelvin Villa ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
