Brandon Sing brought home the winning run to give the Long Island Ducks (37-24) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Long Island Ducks hung on to beat the Sugar Land Skeeters (26-36) 2-1 on Saturday.

Sing put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Long Island Ducks. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the eighth inning.

The Sugar Land Skeeters' lineup had no answer for Jason Monti. The Sugar Land Skeeters managed just one hit off of Monti, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out four during his six innings of work.

Steve Moss did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Sugar Land Skeeters, reaching base two times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the fifth inning.

Armando Benitez got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Pedro Liriano (3-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed one run.
