The Bridgeport Bluefish survive the Somerset Patriots 5-1 thanks to Rogers' late-game heroics

Eddie Rogers drove in the go-ahead run to give the Bridgeport Bluefish (27-35) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Bridgeport Bluefish hung on to beat the Somerset Patriots (29-33) 5-1 on Saturday.

Elliott Ayala singled to start the seventh. He then went from first to second on a stolen base. Finally, Rogers came to the plate with the score tied at one in the seventh inning, and doubled, scoring Ayala and James Simmons.

Rogers racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Bridgeport Bluefish. He doubled in the seventh and ninth innings.

Brock Peterson racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Bridgeport Bluefish. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

The Bridgeport Bluefish relied on Jonah Bayliss to eat up innings en route to the win. Bayliss pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out five.

Despite the loss, the Somerset Patriots' Doug Arguello dominated the Bridgeport Bluefish's batters, giving up three runs and striking out 10.

Arguello (3-3) was the game's losing pitcher.
