Things looked bleak for the Bridgeport Bluefish (19-19) when they trailed by two runs in the sixth inning, but the Bridgeport Bluefish recovered thanks to a key two-run blast in the seventh inning from Brock Peterson to pull out an 8-6 win over the Long Island Ducks (22-16) at Bethpage Ballpark.
With the score tied at six, Peterson came to the plate and homered, plating Prentice Redman.
Peterson racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Bridgeport Bluefish. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and homered in the seventh inning.
The Long Island Ducks had no answer for Joe Bateman, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Bateman held the Long Island Ducks hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Reid Gorecki racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Long Island Ducks. He homered in the first inning.
Jason Monti was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
