Anyelo Roman brought home the winning run to give the Seacoast Mavericks (16-13) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Seacoast Mavericks hung on to beat the Brockton Rox (13-13) 2-1 on Thursday.
After Kevin Stenhouse, Roman came to the plate with the game scoreless in the eighth inning and reached on an error, scoring Stenhouse.The Seacoast Mavericks would not relinquish the lead as the Brockton Rox were unable to weather a two-run eighth inning deficit.
The Brockton Rox scored one run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Rhett Wiseman. Still, the Brockton Rox couldn't catch the Seacoast Mavericks.
Stenhouse went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for the Seacoast Mavericks. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fourth inning.
The Seacoast Mavericks relied on Kyle Bobolts to eat up innings en route to the win. Bobolts allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out four over eight innings of work.
Joe Fasano was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just eight innings, walked one, struck out seven, and allowed two runs.
