A superb effort by Jared Mortensen lifted the Lethbridge Bulls (26-18) to a 3-1 win over the Medicine Hat Mavericks (30-15) on Thursday at Spitz Stadium.

Mortensen racked up 11 strikeouts in the the Lethbridge Bulls win. Mortensen allowed one earned run, seven hits and one walk over nine innings.

Billy Martin was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Lethbridge Bulls batters and allowing three runs.

Martin ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year.
