The Medicine Hat Mavericks beat up on the Edmonton Prospects, 14-2

The Medicine Hat Mavericks (4-1) continued to pile up the runs on Thursday, scoring four runs in the last three innings, on the way to a 14-2 landslide win over the Edmonton Prospects (0-5) at Athletic Park.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks scored five runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Mitch Frey, a wild pitch, and a three-run single by Kirk Rocha.

Frey racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

The Edmonton Prospects' lineup had no answer for Colton Rudd. Rudd held the Edmonton Prospects hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.

Andrew Shoemaker improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. He allowed two runs over six innings. Shoemaker struck out six, walked none and gave up seven hits.

Chris Allen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out five.
