The Lake Erie Monarchs defeat the Cincinnati Steam after late game single, 8-3

The Lake Erie Monarchs (20-19) took the last of five lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against the Cincinnati Steam (24-15), securing a 8-3 victory on Saturday at Ned Skeldon Stadium.

Tyler Curry racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Lake Erie Monarchs. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the eighth inning.

Alec Schmenk handled the Cincinnati Steam's lineup with ease, racking up six strikeouts. Schmenk allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks over six innings.

The Cincinnati Steam were led by Matt Williams's hitting. Williams went 2-5 and scored one run. He singled in the fifth inning and tripled in the ninth inning.

Cristian Torres got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed one run over two innings. Torres struck out two, walked two and gave up two hits.

C.J. Gant (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
