The West Virginia Miners (29-15) and the Lorain County Ironmen (12-34) both had scoring chances on Saturday, but it was the West Virginia Miners that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-1 win at Linda K. Epling Stadium.

The Lorain County Ironmen scored one run in the eighth on a fielder's choice. Unfortunately, the Lorain County Ironmen weren't able to take the lead back.

Gray Stafford racked up two RBIs on one hit for the West Virginia Miners. He homered in the sixth inning.

Jacob Johansen kept contact to a minimum, striking out 10 the Lorain County Ironmen batters. Johansen allowed one earned run on seven hits and five walks over eight innings.

Eric Knight ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his sixth loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
