The bats were busy at Bob Warn Field on Friday, and when the dust cleared the Terre Haute Rex (27-17) had a 12-10 win over the Quincy Gems (25-20).
The two teams combined for 22 hits in the game.
The Terre Haute Rex held off the Quincy Gems, as the Quincy Gems were unable to overcome a nine-run seventh inning deficit.
The Quincy Gems scored on an RBI single by Gregory Allen, , , , and a single by Nick Tindall in the eighth inning and a three-run triple by David Kuhne in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Quincy Gems couldn't get over the hump.
Casey McCurdy racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Terre Haute Rex. He singled in the second and third innings.
Even though Tommy Strunc allowed seven runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory, his fifth of the season. Strunc struck out 10, walked seven and gave up five hits.
Charlie Kapala (5-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed nine runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out five.
