The Dubois County Bombers seize victory thanks to late single, drop the Terre Haute Rex 8-6

The Dubois County Bombers (6-0) took the last of four lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against the Terre Haute Rex (2-4), securing a 8-6 victory on Saturday at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stad.

The Dubois County Bombers held off the Terre Haute Rex, as the Terre Haute Rex were unable to overcome a four-run eighth inning deficit.

The Terre Haute Rex scored two runs in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Alex Reynolds and a two-run single by Nick Johnson. Still, the Terre Haute Rex couldn't catch the Dubois County Bombers.

Jeff Zahn racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Dubois County Bombers. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.

Spencer Sapp pitched lights out for the Dubois County Bombers. The Terre Haute Rex managed just one hit off of Sapp, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.

Even though Ryan Billo allowed six runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory, his first of the season. He struck out five, walked six and surrendered seven hits.

Michael Schroeder ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
