The Quincy Gems fend off the Terre Haute Rex's late push, hold on 6-4

The Terre Haute Rex (2-1) weren't able to overcome the big hole they dug themselves into against the Quincy Gems (2-1), and the Terre Haute Rex lost 6-4 to the Quincy Gems after falling behind by four runs in the fifth inning.

The Terre Haute Rex scored on a wild pitch and an RBI single by Kyle Zimmerman in the fifth inning and a solo home run by Alex Reynolds in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Terre Haute Rex couldn't finish the comeback.

Joe Kelch got on base three times in the game for the Quincy Gems. He singled in the third inning.

Zac Pearman shut down the Terre Haute Rex while he was on the mound. Pearman gave up just one hit, allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out three during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Reynolds was hot from the plate for the Terre Haute Rex. Reynolds went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run.

Charlie Kapala got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He struck out one, walked four and surrendered one hit.

Clay Manering couldn't get it done on the bump for the Terre Haute Rex, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
