The Butler Blue Sox (16-11) built an early lead against the Slippery Rock Sliders (9-18), scoring four runs in the first inning, en route to a 9-7 win on Thursday at Jack Critchfield Park.

The Butler Blue Sox staved off the Slippery Rock Sliders as the Slippery Rock Sliders were unable to match the Butler Blue Sox down the stretch.

The Slippery Rock Sliders scored six runs in the eighth on a double by Alex Lang, three singles, and 3s. Still, the Slippery Rock Sliders couldn't draw even.

Kyle Petty racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Butler Blue Sox. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the fifth inning, and homered in the ninth inning.

Kyle Thomas racked up 10 strikeouts in the the Butler Blue Sox win. Thomas allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk over seven innings.

Max Deering was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out three.
