The Slippery Rock Sliders best the Chillicothe Paints in shootout, 11-10

The bats were busy at Jack Critchfield Park on Tuesday, and when the dust cleared the Slippery Rock Sliders (9-16) had an 11-10 win over the Chillicothe Paints (14-11).

The teams totaled 21 hits in the game.

Zack Walsh helped the Slippery Rock Sliders pull ahead for the duration in the sixth inning. Jeff Revesz to start the sixth. He then went from first to second on a single by Drew Bryan. Finally, Walsh came to the plate with the score tied at four in the sixth inning, and doubled, plating Revesz and Bryan.

The Slippery Rock Sliders staved off the Chillicothe Paints as the Chillicothe Paints were unable to match the Slippery Rock Sliders down the stretch.

The Chillicothe Paints scored six runs in the ninth on a two-run double by Nick Lombardi, an error, a two-run single by Kevin Zak, and a hit by pitch. Despite their efforts, the Chillicothe Paints couldn't get over the hump.

Walsh improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Slippery Rock Sliders. He allowed two runs over three innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered three hits.

Zach Wolfe was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed three runs.

The Slippery Rock Sliders' Dan Hurlimann, Trent Wooldridge, Pat Gelwicks and Pat Guinane combined for eight hits and eight RBIs.
