The bats were busy at Quincy Stadium on Wednesday, and when the dust cleared the Springfield Sliders (21-28) had a 12-9 win over the Quincy Gems (28-21).

The teams totaled 27 hits in the game.

Mike Fitzgerald Jr. racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Springfield Sliders. He homered in the first inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Wade Rothermich kept contact to a minimum, striking out six the Quincy Gems batters. Rothermich allowed three earned runs, five hits and no walks over seven innings.

Matt Munoz racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Quincy Gems. He homered in the eighth inning.

Brian Hruby couldn't get it done on the bump for the Quincy Gems, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.
