The Quincy Gems (20-13) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Terre Haute Rex (18-14) on Tuesday, as the Quincy Gems fell 8-7 at QU Stadium after falling behind by six runs in the sixth inning.
The Quincy Gems scored on a sacrifice fly by David Kuhne, , and in the seventh inning, and a hit by pitch in the eighth inning, and an RBI double by Matt Munoz in the ninth inning. Still, the Quincy Gems couldn't catch the Terre Haute Rex.
Patrick Chandler racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Terre Haute Rex. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the first and eighth innings.
William Robinson kept contact to a minimum, striking out six the Quincy Gems batters. Robinson allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks over six innings.
Munoz had two extra-base hits for the Quincy Gems.
Zac Pearman was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in five innings, walked three and struck out four.
