An awesome effort by Ryan Billo hoisted the Dubois County Bombers (17-4) to a 2-1 win over the Quincy Gems on Friday at QU Stadium.
Billo got the win for the Dubois County Bombers thanks to nine strikeouts. Billo allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks over eight innings.
The Dubois County Bombers' Jeff Zahn was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and seventh innings.
A bright spot for the Quincy Gems (12-9) in the defeat was Sam Coonrod, who allowed only two runs while striking out seven.
Gregory Allen paced the Quincy Gems at the plate. Allen went 2-3 and scored one run. He tripled in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Coonrod (1-1) took the loss for the Quincy Gems.
