The Terre Haute Rex get key pinch-hit in 12-3 victory over the Danville Dans

Kyle Kempf was cold coming off the bench, but Kempf warmed up quickly as Kempf stroked a key pinch-hit triple in the one to lead the Terre Haute Rex (11-11) to a 12-3 win over the Danville Dans (7-15) on Friday at Danville Stadium.

With the game scoreless in the first inning Kempf came to the plate and tripled.

The Terre Haute Rex ran up the score, scoring runs at will until the final out. The Terre Haute Rex scored three runs in the final three innings to cap the blowout win. The Terre Haute Rex scored five runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Edmund Cheatham, a two-run double by Jacob Hayes, a single by Nick Johnson, a groundout by Kempf, a double by Michael Schroeder, an RBI single by Brian Norwood, and a groundout by Kyle Zimmerman.

Schroeder racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Terre Haute Rex.

The Danville Dans couldn't get anything going so long as Josh Dove was on the hill. The Danville Dans managed just one hit off of Dove, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his two innings of work.

Clay Manering got the win, running his season record to 1-2. He allowed three runs over six innings. Manering struck out six, walked two and gave up five hits.

Houston Hibberd (2-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out three.
