Drew Hacker brought home the go-ahead run to give the Danville Dans (6-13) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Danville Dans hung on to beat the Hannibal Cavemen (11-8) 5-4 on Tuesday.
Evan Powell was hit by a pitch to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on a groundout by Casey Fletcher. Finally, Hacker came to the plate with the score tied at four, and doubled, scoring Powell.Hacker had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the fifth and eighth innings.
Powell was hot from the plate for the Danville Dans. Powell went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Trevor Fitts allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings of work.
Despite the loss, the Hannibal Cavemen's Ryan Brasser dominated the Danville Dans' batters, giving up three runs and striking out seven.
