Tuesday was a great day for Aaron Hopper, as he hit two home runs to carry the Chillicothe Paints (24-18) to a 7-5 victory over the Butler Blue Sox (27-15) at Pullman Park.
The Chillicothe Paints would not relinquish the lead as the Butler Blue Sox were unable to weather a seven-run fifth inning deficit.
The Butler Blue Sox scored on a sacrifice fly by Brendan Costantino in the fifth inning, a solo home run by Alexander Miklos and a sacrifice fly by Elliott Caldwell in the seventh inning, and a two-run home run by Caldwell in the ninth inning. Still, the Butler Blue Sox couldn't draw even.
The Chillicothe Paints relied on Chris Thomas to eat up innings en route to the win. Thomas pitched six innings and allowed no earned runs, six hits and one walk while striking out five.
Caldwell racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Butler Blue Sox.
Dave Yakopec couldn't get it done on the bump for the Butler Blue Sox, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked one and struck out five.
The Chillicothe Paints' Dan Zuchowski, Hopper and Kevin Zak combined for six hits and four RBIs.
