Daniel Aldrich brought home the go-ahead run to give the Orleans Firebirds (11-3) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Orleans Firebirds hung on to beat the Bourne Braves (3-10) 5-1 on Saturday.
Conrad Gregor was hit by a pitch to start the sixth. He then went from first to third on a single by Max Rossiter. Finally, Aldrich came to the plate with the score tied at one in the sixth inning, and grounded out, plating Gregor.Gregor had a hot bat for the Orleans Firebirds. Gregor went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.
Jimmy Reed handled the Bourne Braves' lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. Reed allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk over 5 2/3 innings.
Despite the loss, the Bourne Braves' Jeff Thompson dominated the Orleans Firebirds' batters, giving up one run and striking out six.
Dylan Clark recorded his second win of the year for the Orleans Firebirds. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered no hits.
