The Rockford RiverHawks (18-26)'s three first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home a 5-2 win over the Washington Wild Things (16-28) on Thursday at CONSOL Energy Park.
Matt Greener was hot from the plate for the Rockford RiverHawks. Greener went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Kyle Schepel brought the heat against the Washington Wild Things during his outing. The Washington Wild Things managed just two hits off of Schepel, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out seven during his six innings of work.
Casey Barnes ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
