A great effort by Jon Myers led the Gateway Grizzlies (36-26) to a 12-3 win over the River City Rascals (30-31) on Thursday at T. R. Hughes Ballpark.
Myers racked up six RBIs on two hits for the Gateway Grizzlies. He homered in the first and second innings.
Ten runs in the opening three innings allowed the Gateway Grizzlies to easily put away the River City Rascals. A home run by Myers in the first inning and an RBI double by Antone DeJesus and a two-run home run by Myers during the second inning fueled the Gateway Grizzlies' offense early.
The River City Rascals couldn't get anything going as long as JaVaun West was pitching. West held the River City Rascals hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Alex Kaminsky recorded his sixth win of the year for the Gateway Grizzlies. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out three, walked six and surrendered five hits.
Blaine OBrien (0-1) took the loss for the River City Rascals. He allowed six runs in one inning, walked two and struck out one.
