Saturday was a great day for Patrick McKenna, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Normal CornBelters (25-52) to a 7-2 victory over the River City Rascals (36-41) at The Corn Crib.
The Normal CornBelters relied on Drew Provence to eat up innings en route to the win. Provence pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out four.
The Normal CornBelters couldn't get anything going as long as Alex Sunderland was pitching. Sunderland held the Normal CornBelters hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.
Liam Ohlmann was charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked none and struck out three.
The Normal CornBelters were sparked by Trey Manz and Tyler Wiesemeyer, who teamed up for six hits and seven RBIs.
