Chamberlain gives the Normal CornBelters late push to beat the Evansville Otters, 2-1

Brett Chamberlain brought home the winning run to give the Normal CornBelters (8-14) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Normal CornBelters hung on to beat the Evansville Otters (8-16) 2-1 on Wednesday.

Nick Schwaner doubled to start the seventh. He then went from second to third on a single by Luis Uribe. Finally, Chamberlain came to the plate with the Evansville Otters trailing by one in the seventh inning, and reached on an error, bringing home Schwaner.

Tyler Wiesemeyer had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the third and eighth innings.

Tyler Lavigne shut down the Evansville Otters while he was on the mound. The Evansville Otters managed just three hits off of the the Normal CornBelters' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out five during his 6 2/3 innings of work.

Josh Joseph recorded his first win of the year for the Normal CornBelters. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Patrick Crider (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
