The River City Rascals (24-20) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Southern Illinois Miners (26-18) on Wednesday, as the River City Rascals fell 4-3 at Rent One Park, Marion, IL after falling behind by three runs in the third inning.

The River City Rascals scored two runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Doug Sanders and an RBI triple by Curran Redal. Despite their efforts, the River City Rascals couldn't get over the hump.

Shawn Gilblair got the win for the Southern Illinois Miners thanks to seven strikeouts. Gilblair allowed three earned runs on five hits and three walks over eight innings.

The River City Rascals were led by Redal's hitting. Redal went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first inning and tripled in the fifth inning.

Tony Marsala (2-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
