The Schaumburg Boomers (11-7) and the Gateway Grizzlies (7-11) exchanged the lead five times on Thursday, but the Schaumburg Boomers ended up on top with a 5-4 win over the Gateway Grizzlies.

Chad Mozingo put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He homered in the seventh inning and doubled in the ninth inning.

Tyler Watkins shut down the Gateway Grizzlies while he was on the mound. The Gateway Grizzlies managed just three hits off of Watkins, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out three during his six innings of work.

Jason Braun improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. Braun struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.

Richard Barrett (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.

The Schaumburg Boomers were sparked by Jereme Milons and Mozingo, who teamed up for four hits and two RBIs.
