Brad Netzel brought home the go-ahead run to give the Joliet Slammers (23-29) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Joliet Slammers hung on to beat the Gateway Grizzlies (27-25) 4-2 on Monday.
After David Fox singled, Netzel came to the plate with two outs in the seventh and singled, scoring Fox.It was a good day at the plate for the Joliet Slammers' Kyle Maunus. Maunus went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the fifth inning and homered in the seventh inning.
Geoff Brown got the win, running his season record to 1-2. Brown struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.
Alex Kaminsky (5-4) took the loss for the Gateway Grizzlies. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
