The Washington Wild Things (9-15) built an early edge on Thursday, but the Florence Freedom (15-10) roared back to steal an 8-4 victory at Home of the Florence Freedom.

The Florence Freedom took the lead in the sixth inning on a two-run home run by Ryan Skellie.

Chris Curley racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Florence Freedom. He singled in the third inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Brandon Mathes pitched lights out for the Florence Freedom. The Washington Wild Things managed just one hit off of Mathes, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.

Sean Gregory improved to 2-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Florence Freedom. He allowed four runs over seven innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered seven hits.

Casey Barnes (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out four.
