Early lead gives the Florence Freedom easy victory over the Evansville Otters, 10-1

The Florence Freedom (57-39) shut the door early on the Evansville Otters (45-50), capturing a 10-1 victory on Sunday at Bosse Field.

The game was decided quickly as the Florence Freedom exerted their will early with five runs in the first three innings.

A solo home run by Jim Jacquot in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Florence Freedom.

Jacquot had two extra-base hits for the Florence Freedom.

The Evansville Otters couldn't get anything going as long as Ian Durham was pitching. Durham gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one during his four innings of work.

Despite the loss, the Evansville Otters' Matt Crim dominated the Florence Freedom's batters, giving up two runs and striking out five.

Alec Lewis recorded his fifth win of the year for the Florence Freedom. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Adam Champion (8-5) took the loss for the Evansville Otters. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked two and struck out four.

The Florence Freedom's Ryan Skellie, Eddie Rodriguez, Jacquot and Stephen Cardullo combined for 10 hits and eight RBIs.
