The River City Rascals take out the Washington Wild Things with help from Williams, 4-1

Eric Williams collected three hits as the River City Rascals (6-1) took home a 4-1 victory over the Washington Wild Things (5-2) at CONSOL Energy Park on Friday.

He singled in the third and fifth innings and tripled in the ninth inning.

Preston Vancil struck out five hitters en route to the the River City Rascals win. Vancil allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks over six innings.

Shawn Smith couldn't get it done on the bump for the Washington Wild Things, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out two, and allowed one run.

In the top of the third, the River City Rascals grabbed the early lead, 1-0. The River City Rascals got things going when Williams singled.

In the fourth inning, the Washington Wild Things pushed across their only run of the day on an RBI single by Trevor Pippin.

The River City Rascals never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly by Jason Patton.

The River City Rascals tacked on another two runs in the seventh. The inning got off to a hot start when Jeremy Synan tripled, bringing home Matt Serna. That was followed up by an error that scored Synan.
