The Vermont Mountaineers (18-21) and the Holyoke Blue Sox (16-24) passed the lead back and forth five times on Tuesday at Montpelier Recreation Field, but in the end the Vermont Mountaineers pulled out an 8-5 win over the Holyoke Blue Sox.
Austin Green racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Vermont Mountaineers. He homered in the fourth innings and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.
The Holyoke Blue Sox couldn't get anything going so long as Kyle Grana was on the hill. Grana held the Holyoke Blue Sox hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Jordan Keur got on base four times in the game for the Holyoke Blue Sox. He singled in the first, fourth, and sixth innings.
Matt McAllister improved to 3-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Vermont Mountaineers. He allowed three runs over 3 1/3 innings. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered eight hits.
Brandon Thomas (0-2) took the loss for the Holyoke Blue Sox. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out three.
