The Vermont Mountaineers best the Danbury Westerners in shootout, 18-11

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Monday as the Vermont Mountaineers (2-3) outscored the Danbury Westerners (2-2) 18-11.

The two teams combined for 28 hits in the game.

Everything was working at the plate for the the Vermont Mountaineers in the sixth. In the inning the Vermont Mountaineers scored 10 runs.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the sixth, with five lead changes.

Rob Kelly racked up five RBIs on four hits for the Vermont Mountaineers. He doubled in the second inning, singled in the first and fourth innings, and homered in the sixth inning.

Matt McAllister got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed two runs over 1 2/3 innings. McAllister struck out two, walked two and gave up three hits.

Isaac Sterman couldn't get it done on the mound for the Danbury Westerners, taking a loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked three, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
