The Bend Elks offense too much for the Klamath Falls Gems in 14-4 rout

The Bend Elks (22-26) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Klamath Falls Gems (23-25), recording a 14-4 victory on Friday at Vince Genna Stadium.

The game was decided quickly as the Bend Elks exerted their will early with five runs in the first three innings.

A groundout by Steven Halcomb in the first inning and a groundout by Jordan Copeland, an error, and a sacrifice fly by Halcomb during the second inning fueled the Bend Elks' offense early.

Joey Mathews racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Bend Elks. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Kyle Doyle had an impressive outing against the Klamath Falls Gems' lineup. Doyle held the Klamath Falls Gems hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Joshua Wong racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Klamath Falls Gems. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the fifth and ninth innings.

Darin Gillies improved to 4-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Bend Elks. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out eight, walked three and surrendered seven hits.

Jeremy Burright was charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
