The Klamath Falls Gems beat up on the Bend Elks, 18-3

The Klamath Falls Gems (23-24) continued to pile up the runs on Thursday, scoring nine runs in the last three innings, en route to an easy 18-3 win over the Bend Elks (21-26) at Vince Genna Stadium.

The Klamath Falls Gems scored eight runs in the fifth on a fielder's choice, an RBI single by Greg Velazquez, an RBI single by Kevin Davidson, a hit by pitch, a two-run double by Jamison Rowe, a wild pitch, and a wild pitch.

The Klamath Falls Gems were led by a flawless day at the dish by Conner George, who went 4-4 against the Bend Elks' pitching. He doubled in the second and seventh innings and singled in the ninth innings.

Shawn OBrien racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Bend Elks. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Mitch Merten got the win, running his season record to 5-1. He allowed three runs over six innings. Merten struck out five, walked none and gave up nine hits.

JR Bunda (3-5) took the loss for the Bend Elks. He allowed eight runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out three.
