Cabe Reiten drove in the winning run to give the Wenatchee AppleSox (28-15) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Wenatchee AppleSox hung on to beat the Walla Walla Sweets (19-25) 7-2 on Saturday.
With the score tied at two, Reiten came to the plate and hit a grand slam, scoring Jeff Stephens, Mitchell Gunsolus and Ryan Drobny.Reiten racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Wenatchee AppleSox. He singled in the seventh inning and homered in the eighth inning.
The Walla Walla Sweets couldn't get anything going as long as James Kaprielian was on the mound. The Walla Walla Sweets managed just one hit off of the the Wenatchee AppleSox's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out seven during his four innings of work.
Matt Imhof was effective even in defeat, mowing down nine the Wenatchee AppleSox batters and allowing zero runs.
Bryce Jackson got the win, running his season record to 3-1. Jackson struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.
Joe Arlt ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
