Matt Ozzanne drove in the winning run to give the Cowlitz Black Bears (20-22) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Cowlitz Black Bears hung on to beat the Klamath Falls Gems (21-23) 6-5 on Saturday.
Brian Carroll singled to start the eighth. He then went from second to third on a groundout by Brian Frattali. Finally, Ozzanne came to the plate with the score tied at five in the eighth inning, and tripled, plating Carroll.Ozzanne had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the second inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and tripled in the eighth inning.
It was a good day at the plate for the Cowlitz Black Bears' Carroll. Carroll went 4-5 and scored three runs. He singled in the third, fifth, seventh, and eighth innings.
Joshua Wong racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Klamath Falls Gems. He singled in the third inning and homered in the seventh inning.
Alec Cordova recorded his second win of the year for the Cowlitz Black Bears. Cordova struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.
Nathan Bunch was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
