A walk-off single from Brandon Alvarez brought home the winning run for the Kitsap BlueJackets (13-33) in a 4-3 victory over the Bend Elks in 11 innings at Kitsap Fairgrounds on Friday.
Scotty Burcham paced the Kitsap BlueJackets at the plate. Burcham went 2-4 and drove in one. He tripled in the sixth inning and singled in the eleventh inning.
Allen Hewey baffled the Bend Elks (19-22), striking out six batters. Hewey allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks over seven innings.
Kyle McKay improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Kitsap BlueJackets. McKay struck out four, walked none and gave up one hit.
Derek Peterson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed one run.
