The Cowlitz Black Bears survive the Kitsap BlueJackets rally, escape with 6-5 victory

The Kitsap BlueJackets (8-23) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Cowlitz Black Bears (10-13) on Tuesday, as the Kitsap BlueJackets fell 6-5 at Story Field after falling behind by five runs in the third inning.

The Kitsap BlueJackets scored on a solo home run by Jerad Casper in the fourth inning and a sacrifice fly by Jake Gallaway, an RBI single by Kasey Chapan, an error, and an error in the seventh inning. Still, the Kitsap BlueJackets couldn't draw even.

Brian Carroll went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Cowlitz Black Bears. He singled in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.

Casper had a hot bat for the Kitsap BlueJackets. Casper went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run.

Cole Irvin got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed four runs over 6 2/3 innings. Irvin struck out seven, walked three and gave up six hits.

Rene Tato (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
