Chavez allows no runs to lead the Bend Elks past the Kelowna Falcons 1-0

Daniel Chavez held the Kelowna Falcons (13-9) scoreless for six innings to boost the Bend Elks (10-12) to a 1-0 victory.

Chavez struck out none and allowed one walk and four hits.

Grant Newton helped the Bend Elks take the lead for good in the eighth inning. With the game scoreless in the eighth inning Newton came to the plate and homered.

The Bend Elks were led by Newton's hitting. Newton went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the eighth inning.

Derek Peterson improved to 2-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Bend Elks. Peterson struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.

Cord Cockrill couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Kelowna Falcons, taking a loss. He lasted just eight innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed one run.
