The Cowlitz Black Bears (6-11) trailed by four in the fourth, but the Cowlitz Black Bears recovered thanks to a key single in the ninth inning from Austin Wobrock to pull out an 8-6 win over the Klamath Falls Gems (2-17) at Kiger Stadium on Tuesday.
With the score tied at six in the ninth inning, Wobrock came to the plate and singled, bringing home Derrick Salberg and Cody Childs.
Wobrock racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Cowlitz Black Bears. He singled in the first, third, and ninth innings.
Taylor Williams baffled the Klamath Falls Gems, striking out eight batters. The Cowlitz Black Bears' pitcher gave up just four hits over five shutout innings.
Austin Byler racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Klamath Falls Gems. He doubled in the first inning, homered in the second inning, and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.
Kevin Sprague improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Cowlitz Black Bears. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered no hits.
Christian Bannister ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
