The Corvallis Knights (5-4) trailed by two in the eighth, but the Corvallis Knights recovered thanks to a key single in the ninth inning from Caylen Clardy to pull out a 5-4 win over the Cowlitz Black Bears (2-4) at Story Field on Monday.
With the score tied at four in the ninth inning, Clardy came to the plate and singled, bringing home Alex Michaels.
Austin Barr had a hot bat for the Corvallis Knights. Barr went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the sixth inning and doubled in the eighth inning.
Devon Barker improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Corvallis Knights. He allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings. He struck out six, walked one and surrendered four hits.
Kody Watts was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
