The Cowlitz Black Bears (1-3) and the Kelowna Falcons (0-1) both had scoring chances on Wednesday, but it was the Cowlitz Black Bears that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 4-2 win at Story Field.
Nick Paxton paced the Cowlitz Black Bears at the plate. Paxton went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the second inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.
Alec Cordova kept contact to a minimum, striking out six the Kelowna Falcons batters. Cordova allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk over six innings.
Phil Maton was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out seven, and allowed two runs.
