The Saugerties Stallions (14-31) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 3-1 ballgame against the Oneonta Outlaws (24-20) on Wednesday at Damaschke Field.
While the Saugerties Stallions led until the fifth inning, the Oneonta Outlaws worked their way back and took the lead on a two-run triple by Robbie Nardelli.
Chandler Engel put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Oneonta Outlaws. He tripled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Josh Covey struck out six, paving the way for a the Oneonta Outlaws win. Covey allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks over five innings.
Despite the loss, the Saugerties Stallions' Caleb Gregg dominated the Oneonta Outlaws' batters, giving up three runs and striking out seven.
Gregg was charged with his first loss of the year.
