Adam Carafotes was cold coming off the bench, but Carafotes warmed up quickly as Carafotes stroked a key pinch-hit single in the eight to lead the Geneva Red Wings (9-27) to a 2-1 win over the Adirondack Trail Blazers (8-29) on Saturday at McDonough Park.

With the Geneva Red Wings trailing by one in the eighth inning, Carafotes came to the plate and singled.

A walk-off single by Drake Sykes gave the Geneva Red Wings the win.

Sykes paced the Geneva Red Wings at the plate. Sykes went 3-5 and drove in one. He singled in the first, fourth, and ninth innings.

Sam Fuller did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Geneva Red Wings, reaching base four times. He singled in the first and third innings.

Tom Sutera picked up the win for the Geneva Red Wings. Sutera allowed one earned run, eight hits and one walk while striking out four over nine innings of work.

Don McWreath was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
