The Elmira Pioneers get key pinch-hit in 14-7 victory over the Adirondack Trail Blazers

Tyler Plantier was cold coming off the bench, but Plantier warmed up quickly as Plantier stroked a key pinch-hit double in the nine to lead the Elmira Pioneers (31-13) to a 14-7 win over the Adirondack Trail Blazers (11-35) on Thursday at Robert Smith Sports Complex .

With the Elmira Pioneers trailing by two in the ninth inning, Plantier came to the plate and doubled, bringing home Troy Dixon.

The Elmira Pioneers stamped out any hope for the Adirondack Trail Blazers with 10 runs in the ninth.

Dixon put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Elmira Pioneers. He doubled in the third and fifth innings.

Cody Thompson recorded his second win of the year for the Elmira Pioneers. He allowed one run over two innings. Thompson struck out one, walked one and gave up four hits.

Donald Goodson (1-3) took the loss for the Adirondack Trail Blazers. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked three, struck out none, and allowed five runs.

The Elmira Pioneers' Blake Buckman, Dixon and Plantier combined for five hits and seven RBIs.
