The Utica Blue Sox (22-9) took home a marathon 2-1 victory over the Geneva Red Wings (8-23) on Friday at McDonough Park.
With the score tied at one in the tenth inning, Mike Warren came to the plate and singled, scoring Justin Segers.
It was a good day at the plate for the Utica Blue Sox's Taylor Olmstead. Olmstead went 2-4 and drove in one. He singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the sixth inning.
Craig Prince pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and three walks while striking out four.
Will Nahmens was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Utica Blue Sox batters and allowing one run.
Eric Handelman improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Utica Blue Sox. Handelman struck out two, walked none and gave up no hits.
Conor Russell was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed no runs.
