The Newark Pilots (15-9) and the Jamestown Jammers (11-11) both had scoring chances on Sunday, but it was the Newark Pilots that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 6-5 win at Colburn Park.
Chris Sharpe had two extra-base hits for the Newark Pilots. He tripled in the first inning and homered in the fourth innings.
Scott Braren did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Jamestown Jammers, reaching base four times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He doubled in the fourth innings and singled in the first and eighth innings.
Skyler Defer improved to 4-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Newark Pilots. He allowed three runs over six innings. Defer struck out four, walked three and gave up four hits.
Matthew Franco was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out none.
