A nine-run explosion in the second inning led the Adirondack Trail Blazers (7-22) to a 17-2 win over the Saugerties Stallions (10-15) at Robert Smith Sports Complex on Wednesday.
The Adirondack Trail Blazers scored in the second on a solo home run by Mark Venice, a home run by Kenny Collins, an RBI triple by Kyle Cunningham, an RBI single by Justin Lebeck, and a two-run home run by Venice.
Venice blasted two home runs for the Adirondack Trail Blazers. Venice went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Venice homered in the innings.
Don McWreath had an impressive outing against the Saugerties Stallions' lineup. The Saugerties Stallions managed just one hit off of the the Adirondack Trail Blazers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his three innings of work.
Josh Partridge improved to 1-4 on the year by picking up the win for the Adirondack Trail Blazers. He allowed two runs over five innings. Partridge struck out six, walked one and gave up five hits.
Benjamin Contento ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out two.
